Cookie policy

This text aims at presenting the use of cookies and indicates how these are used in our Web site, how to handle them and in case limit their use. Our site uses cookies like most of other sites. These are text files created by websites to record information about the navigation such as preferences or profile information. The users can always choose which cookies they intend to authorize or disable by configuring their Web browser. In doing so there is a risk of not being able to see some parts of the site. Without disabling cookies and similar technologies the users give their consent to use such technologies within the site for the collection and processing of information in accordance with this Cookies Policy.

What are cookies?

Cookies are text files that can be saved on your navigation device when surfing a site with a Web browser (computer, smartphone, tablet, etc.).
The minimum information contained in the cookie is the name of the website (the domain or IP address of the site) from which the cookie comes from, its duration (i.e. an indication of when it expires) and a value that most of the time is a sequence of random character.
On AboutCookies.org you can find much more information about cookies and how these affect your browsing experience.

Is there any difference between cookies?

Web sites use different types of cookies depending on the specific functional objectives. The following is a list of the types of cookies with an indication of the purposes for which they are used.

Session cookies (temporary): session cookies are temporarily stored in the computer memory to keep track of the language chosen for navigation. Session cookies are stored on your computer until you close the Web browser in use.

Persistent cookies or tracers: persistent cookies save a file on the computer for a period of time defined by the 'duration' field. These cookies allow Web sites to remember information and settings for subsequent visits, making browsing more manageable and fast because it is no longer necessary to specify username and password every time to log in. Upon expiration date cookies are automatically deleted when you make your first access to the Web site that created it.

First part cookies: these cookies are set directly by visited Web sites (the specified domain is the same as that present in the address bar of the Web browser) and can be read only by those sites. They are commonly used to store information, such as preferences, to be used for the next access. They can be either session or permanent cookies.

Third Party Cookies: these cookies are set by other domains that are not related to the one in the address bar of the Web browser or by organizations that do not necessarily are the Web site owners. For example, these cookies can be used to collect information for advertising purpose and for customization of content, as well as to compile web statistics.

Essential cookies: cookies referred to as "essential" are fundamental to enable the navigation through the site and the use of other services such as the registration process and access in the private area of a site.
These cookies are usually first part ones and can be permanent or session.

Performance cookies: these cookies collect information about how visitors use a website, for example which pages are visited or whether you receive error messages from web pages. These cookies do not collect information that identifies a visitor but all collected information is aggregated and thus remains anonymous. The purpose of these cookies is only to improve the site.

Functionality cookies: these cookies allow the site to remember user choices (such as name, language or region of origin) and provide customized and advanced features. They can also be used to provide services such as watching a video or commenting on a blog. The information gathered from these types of cookies can be set to anonymous and they will not track your browsing activity on other websites.

Technical cookies: these are session cookies and/or functionality and/or essential ones that allow users to select specific parameters for the navigation; they can also be performance cookies used by website administrators to gather aggregate information on the number of users and the way they visit their sites.

Profiling Cookies: these cookies are used in order to send promotional messages in relation to the preferences expressed by users during navigation or about the specific sections visited.

Flash cookies: these are files that can be stored on your computer by Web sites that use Adobe Flash. All popular Web browsers have a Flash player for viewing files in Flash format (for example to display the video on YouTube). The idea behind the Flash cookies is similar to the cookies described above even if the implementation and technology are different: in fact there is no time limit for Flash cookies and afterward they remain stored on user device until their cancellation. In addition Flash cookies cannot be blocked or managed on the browser as they are stored in another location. In the Settings Management on the Adobe website you can view the list, manage, delete and eventually disable Flash cookies present on your navigation device.
